Proto Hunt

Some time after the K-T Extinction event, the surviving scansoriopterygid ancestors of modern dragons managed to get a fair start in the new world of mammals. As seen here, these early creatures already started the transition from primitive feathers to the pangolin-like scale armor seen in dragons today, and their fire-sparking capacities, though limited, were already quite effective. However, it would take millions of years for the dragons to spread out into their wide diversity of forms and achieve the high levels of power and intelligence  that they are known for.
Here, we see one specimen attempt to prey upon ancestors of the modern unicorn.
